Born in Kyoto, in 1982, now based in Tokyo. She fell in love with the brush pen at a time when she started writing thank-you letters as a salesperson of a kimono shop. That encounter lead her to the creation of Shinsho (心書), with the concept of the "communicable and unbounded expressions of the self". After founding her company at the age of 25, she has provided her works to more than 10,000 people in 10 years.
She gathers attention through her wide range of creative activities, including a variety of inter-genre collaborative works with musicians, dancers, cooks, among many other artists. Ai has also taken part in mural projects and many other performances and given workshop instructions, invited to cities all over the world from Paris, Milan, Los Angeles, Sydney, Hawaii to Shanghai etc. In Japan, she provides training courses to well-known companies and public schools as well.
In 2013, she established K2 Academy with her business partner, and start publishing the new style of online lessons that anyone can learn the arts of shodo. The lesson participants have numbered more than 2,500, including Japanese and overseas students.
The ambitious shodo artist is now dedicated to training Shinsho instructors for Shinsho Association, which she founded. And further it goes: consulting, supporting female entrepreneurs, modeling, showing up on media... She has no idea where she can stop, with her cheerful husband, 10-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter.
